Wasn't a QB coach added to the coaching group for a hefty salary? Why does no one mention him and his thoughts about what is going on?

Do they only know their practice wasn't good....after they lose a game?

I'm still waiting for breaking NIL QB news. Who is calling the shots behind the scenes regarding NIL QBs??? There is no way in hell RL was MF first NIL QB. MF is not dumb. He knows RL accuracy is a work in progress. Why play a hurt QB and not split reps. I personally believe MF is forced to play RL no matter how poor he plays. It's hard to cheer for ND. Everything is so damn political!!!!

Well, when Purdue beats ND we will see how they handle more failure. Success shouldn't be in anyone's vocab at this point. And, the coaches lied about Riley being injured.

As I watched the game, it was so different then the A&M game. The offensive line didn’t fire off the ball. The defense looked so different. That’s all on the coach.

Leonard is hurt already? He was essentially out for spring and was "no contact" for the start of fall camp, so he had time to heal. He is more fargile than expected or maybe people are making excuses for his poor play. If he is hurt, get him out and play the next guy. You can't tell me that a hurt Leonard is still better than the play guy up. If that is the case, the coaches have no faith for any of their other QBs.

I'm fully prepared to watch Riley be the starter all year. MF has already shown, that he is not amenable to change during the season. I believe he thinks it would make it look like he doesn't know what he is doing. But there is no denying that as a passer, Angeli looked crisp, accurate and developed against a quality opponent last year, in a way that Riley is just not. Riley is going to make plays with his feet. He is going to make some throws. But he is not the consistently accurate passer that you need in today's game. Having the Buchner/Leonard type player at QB hamstrings the rest of the team. At the end of the year, we will likely end up with 2 or 3 losses, and be a borderline playoff team. I believe that could have been accomplished with an inhouse QB. Maybe that 1-2 million could have gone to a better use.

You have to question everything with this program now.

D-line said they had to run laterally too much! Ha! How do you run laterally when you get your butt blown to the second level every play?

Why isn’t Angeli playing? Leonard is going to get him fired. Period.

The NIU loss delegitimizes the Notre Dame Freeman program entirely. 3 years of 3 losses to nobodies. This first time Head Coach is NOT the future. There will be no Playoffs, no Elite Status and definitely no National Championship during his tenure. Period.

Skip the quarterbacks in the portal! Develop the players you have. This was a game which proved their overall weaknesses. They will not compete with the likes of Texas or Georgia. Disgraceful play.

ND doesn't lose that game if Angelli plays in the 4th Q. Leonard played so poorly passing from the pocket for 3 Q. Freeman's being stubborn and loyal to a terrific PERSON , just not a terrific QB! Despite all of you NEVER pointing it out, Jaylen Sneed is killing ND's defense in the run game. He is often fooled or out of position because of misdirection or bad reads. Ausberry is a far better LB and should NOT being sharing reps. Riley Mills might be the most overrated DT in the country. His initial contact is almost always with his shoulder rather than his hands making him easy to wall off and control. Him and RJ Oben have been huge disappointments.

Yeah, the failure to at LEAST try a change up on passing 4th quarter, hard to understand... but AT LEAST FOR THE LAST 30 SECOND RUN TO THE FIELD GOAL? What are you smoking!!??

lol...my concern was oline, and EVERYTHING that comes with that. I did not expect the D front to get handled...smh. I think folks were frustrated because the trenches were a complete loss. HOW IN THE HELL CAN THAT BE AGAINST MIDDLIN MAC TALENT? No one wants to say it...but this loss in the context of the other inexplicable losses was Cataclysmic for MF...what current or potential future player wants this? I think this thing unravels...

11 straight wins or fire Freeman. Not getting into the playoffs now is a failure. If ND is gonna wait until the playoffs expand to 24 to get in, quit FB.

Tim...love your take on Kelly. Very balanced and fair. Good but not great. We were better off as a program for him having been here and he handed over a winning program (minus a QB room. lol). But the bad blood really comes from the personality things he did: interviewing with NFL during NC prep, etc, etc...

This is NO WAY on the o-line! He had all day to throw on Saturday. The offense is hand-cuffed because the kid can`t throw deep! He`s a glorified running back, and he should be benched!

He should already have is office cleaned out. Worst HC at any level of football. Embarrassing.

If Riley is injured they should start Angeli. He can handle Purdue.

Can’t be a Players Coach at ND….every opponent plays 110% to knock ND off for various reasons…..if you cannot see that by now you never will. Holtz would be Livid, and had each player scared to death…..Freeman cuddles them too much!

Kelly couldn’t win the big one, Freeman can’t win the small one - would be great to have a coach who can do both. Ugh.

Bench Leonard the rest of the year. He is inaccurate. He sucks as far as progressing through his reads.

Fire Freeman. Too many losses to pathetic teams like Marshall, Stanford, and now Northern Illinois. I've had it with this. This is a pattern of poor preparation for Freeman of the Irish for bad teams on our schedule.

I still can't understand this loss. I remember Weiss years losing to Navy but wheels were coming off the bus back then already. Sure there was other bad losses but even those came late in the season, away game, injuries perhaps, bad weather, etc. This one there is zero excuses why ND lost. Absolutely none! This is not the first loss to unranked team for Freeman. The only thing i see the root problem is Freeman. Yes Leonard is bad get from the portal. He has no idea how to play QB. But the coach should realize this by now. Ive heard blame on the line, the WRs, the coordinators. The loss is 60/40 MF/RL. Unless by some miracle the Irish make the playoffs, Freeman should be fired at the end of the season (if not sooner).

If they lose against Purdue this season is a bust.
